------------------------------------ Iceland part 1 So this is what it feels like to relax. And not be thinking about the next thing to cross off my list. Or whilrly-dervishing around the house in a manic attempt to clear and cleanse so that I might relax for 3 minutes before crashing out. I realise that I am not the only person whose life is crazy. But in slowing down, I am most definitely appreciating life in lower gear. That said, Iceland rocks. And because of the severity of this place (weather, landscape, prices, people) it is also the most hardcore. So in brief I will recap my favorite four moments thus far: 1. Walking down the main shopping street, Laugavegur, a van stops in front of me. It is my friend Heather and her film crew, who are shooting a high-def TV show here. They shout, I exclaim and jump into the van. Off we go to their next location. Very cool. 2. An amazing dinner of 52 baby lobster tails and assorted fish at one of the crew members houses; general murmuring later in the night causes us to fall outside and see the Northern Lights spirit across the sky. 3. Sitting in the mist of the geothermal pool that is Blue Lagoon. 4. Being told by a hapless hipster at Kaffibarinn last night, "All I want to do is find a place to stand in this world." And that just sort of sums it all up for me. 9:38 p.m. 2007-09-22
