------------------------------------ "Girls, time to put your vacation hats on!" It is hard to contain our excitement: we are on our first family vacation. Granted, we haven't traveled very far and the amount of stuff we had to bring makes it feel like we are still at home but just . . .not. No work, limited communication, and a sleazy Jersey beach town. Welcome to Seaside Heights. This morning Lisher played pinball and I tried to win fancy gadgets with a giant remote-controlled claw. The funhouse mirrors (you know, the ones that make you look long or squat) entertained the ladies for a good 20 minutes as I wheeled them back and forth. Then in the afternoon I took a bike ride into Lavalette, shopped outside my age at the B&B, and then to the A&P for dinner. So much fun. The girls have been going to sleep around 9:30 since we arrived so Lish and I have watched 2 movies! Well, almost two -- I couldn't bear to finish the DaVinci Code. Tonight was Charlotte's Web and I cried my eyes out. My laptop went kaput and yesterday the blackberry lost all signals so I truly thought I'd be cut off all week. Today, the berry has bars...go figure. So its like having mini-internet. Vacation reminds me how nice it is to pare down. Nighty.
