------------------------------------ hospitality course Just a quick note...we are in the hospital. The ladies came down with a cold this weekend and by Monday night were coughing terribly, stuffy noses etc. It sounded like their chests were full of gravel. They stopped eating and couldn't sleep because of the incessant coughing. Whew. So we went to the doctor and after 30 seconds of eval sent us over to Jeff, our hospital. They hooked the ladies up to the pulse-ox (sp?) and O2 nasally thingies. And put these mini hospital gowns on, which I found quite tragic yet cute. Anyway, the diagnosis: RSV. Which I would find a medline link to if I wasn't writing this sitting in between two crib-cages in the hospital watching Teletubbies in medium-rapture. Basically a shitty respiratory virus, highly contagious and dangerous for little kids, esp preemies (check). I spent the night here, attempting to sleep despite the ladies constant coughing fits and the pulse-ox bell sounding every 2 minutes. They are ok. Not eating too well and super-tired but ok. We hope to get released tomorrow. Fingers crossed. 12:54 p.m. 2007-12-12
