Let them eat cupcakes!

Happy cinco de Julio everybody.

Yesterday felt nuts. Lisher woke up and promptly threw his back out. Tried to pick up a baby toy and went screaming down on the couch. I've never heard a man sound like that before.

He got upstairs, crashed in the guest room and hasn't moved from there since. Attempted to sit up on the edge of the bed and fell back writhing in pain.

So it was Mommy+Ladies Day yesterday. Kids eat for free. We hung out in the house all day, unfortunately. I got the stroller outside in the late afternoon only to feel the beginning droplets of rain. Stroller inside!

The day consisted of me running up and down the stairs; feeding the ladies, feeding the husband. Changing the ladies, checking the hubby. Up and down, over and over.

We had to cancel our plans for the evening, but not before I made 2 dozen pistachio-chocolate chip cupcakes and this awesome vegan barley salad.

Anyway, after I fed the girls dinner, I threw some sausages on the grill. This meant I had to run outside, deal with fire and raw meat and run back inside to make sure no one barfed or stuck a Kix up their nostril. I left the ladies sitting in their highchairs for maybe 30 seconds. Upon returning, this is what I found:

cupcake face Ana

Ana had pivoted herself around, grabbed a cupcake and seriously devoured the thing. Cupcake all over face, fingers, mashed into hair. And making this crazy new face -- I call her The Seether when she does it. It seems to come out when she thinks she is getting away with something.

She looked so psyched. It must have been the Cake Doctor cupcake sugar coursing through her. I fell on the floor laughing, ran to get the camera, and then gave some chunks of it to the Lilster, in a misguided effort to be fair to both ladies.
