------------------------------------ There's two in there? 12.5 weeks: I think I've had one of those dream pregnancies so far. No morning sickness, no exhaustion. Just regular me without menstruation. It's like a less threatening version of my former self. Lovely, no? That pretty much sums up the last few months, aside from majorly increased pee-pee output. So imagine my surprise when . . . last week, me and Lisher, the husband, went to the OB. Our doctor scheduled an early ultrasound because she thinks it makes parents-to-be visualize what's going on and also because "it's neat." Direct quote. The doctor had it right on. Ultrasounds are probably the niftiest things out there for preggers ladies. My belly got all gooped up. Contrary to what I was lead to believe, the goop is not cold. Grey fuzzy images appeared on the tv above our heads. The technician chatted us up, all talky talk. Then, all of a sudden, she stopped, and my heart skipped a beat. I didn't know what I should be looking at. "Are there twins in your family?" Well, this was a question I certainly hadn't contemplated, and to draw the natural conclusion from this meant only one thing to me: oh fuck. And then, slowly and with feeling, holy shit. There is more than one bun in the oven. I guess we'll call this libmom, twins edition.
